You need to go larger on your pilot. That is out too far. Stock is 2.25-2.5 on 2nd gens, I believe. You've gone 4 turns out, increase the pilot one size.

speaking of the air/fuel mix screw haha for ****'s and giggles I went out to check where mine was set because mine has been a little on the rich side and boggy if I hit the throttle to fast at idle low and behold the damn thing was like 4 turns out so I put it all the way in and turned it out 2 and a quarter turns I'm gonna try her in the morning but I think I just solved my bogging and rich issue.
Is it possible for the air/fuel screw to turn out by itself over time?

Thank you. Its what I've been thinking the whole time. But many other folks say just adjust the needle and mixture screw. I still haven't found the needle yet. It will be a couple weeks but think I'll pull the carbs again and try it. I need to be spoonfed, but I ain't happy untill its right.

when you pull the slide out of the top of the carb the needle is in the middle of the slide

It is possible for them to turn out over time but, that is what the spring is for. It keeps tension against the screw so it stays fixed.

DGM, you need a VERY SMALL phillips screw driver to remove the two screws that hold the arm in the slide. Once, they are out and the arm removed, you can get at the needle. Move the clip on the needle up to lean, down to rich.

Thanks guys. I checked an old carb here and Yamahauler's directions worked but I know mine looks different.I think Gen's directions will work. I'll get on it in a week or so. I also noticed my carb rubber mount is cracked. put some shoe goo on but think I'll have to replace it.

Yep get a new intake boot once there cracked they are done you can't fix a cracked intake boot

Here's a pic of the carb. From what I see any adjustment has to be the screw on the arm. To remove the slide I need to drill out covers. Possible but dosn't seem right.Maybe aftermarket carbs?
