So I just bought a 1999? Warrior off of my neighbor. He is an older guy and it has been sitting in his back yard for about 3-4 years. Problem is the VIN# is not legible. I can maybe make out 2 of the last numbers. He does not have paper work for it. The frame is really worn in that area from riding trails. It's definitely not stolen and you can tell the frame is just worn from riding. Is there a second place I can find the VIN? If not, what are my options for registering in MA?

There is a number on the right side of the engine, near the clutch cover. It should correspond slightly with the frame's vin. Have you tried cleaning the vin?

I tried using some steel wool but still can't make it out. Do you think I could to attempt to register with a close guess and use vin decoder info to try and fill in the unknowns?

Can you use a piece of paper and rub a pencel over it? Maybe use a wire wheel in a drill over the steel wool.

WOW gen pat n flip....i just noticed i about lost my VIN# from sandblasting....started being real careful there, i was gonna put some paint on my finger an rub it in then clear coat it, pencil n paper is a good trick to.......old liquid paper (the actual liquid) works well too....from what flip said i dont know if id wanna wear it down anymore......try rubbing **** into numbers then wiping with min spirits LIGHTLY and look closely

I'm going to try some of these tricks today and I'll report back. I really don't think I will be able to read it no matter what I do. What a stupid place for a VIN! Of course it is going to get beat up being on the lower end of the frame!

yup....agreed on that flip.....if u dont get it ask what DMV says, the 1 thing i got on ya is i do have a title, at worst load her up n bring it to DMV with you and show them the prob and explain......there ****** idiots

ok so i just tryed paint trick, didnt work to well, havent tryed pencil n paper buttttttttttttjust rubbing the piss outta it with a towel trying to get paint off, it appeared!!!!!!! all shiny! hard to read but enuff to go on if i had too.

the 01 I just picked up was registered with just the engine vin cause the frame vin was totally gone(didn't even seem like there was ever a vin# stamped in the frame) but we only have to go through the DNR to register our wheelers here in Wisconsin and we can do frame vin# or engine vin# thank god cause at first when I got her home I thought she was stolen but I ran the engine vin and it came up as registered and an 01 se warrior 350 so all is good. whew!!!

Conclusion: Just got my money back today. VIN was not legible and he could not produce paperwork. Oh well, moving on..
