I was calling to get some suggetions on my motor build and found out they use a 11:1 piston which is great but it cost $205, the cam $165, and the springs were $95, =$497 and the guy was a real smartass about the whole thing. and is a .80 over bore and he said that if you had to rebuild it you would have to resleeve it. My question is how can i get 11:1 compression using say a je piston I read the engine build thread and don't really understand how to mearsure everything, could i take it to a shop and tell them what im trying to do and they can shave some off the head or what? plus im afraid of the .80 over bore and how reliable it is gonna be i mean will have to get it rebuild it in a few years? whould i be better off peacing this all together with je,web, and kibble white or get the setup from four stroke tech, any opions?

If the guy was a smart ass about; I would pay double somewhere else before I would do business with them. (or at least have them make it right)

Don't worry so much about the static compression ratio like 11.1, you can use a 10.50:1 JE and have the head ported and shaved down a bit. What your really interested in is cranking compression. I know your afraid of going 0.080 over but that should last easily for years and hundreds of hours of running time without the need for rebuild. Anyone who complains they'll need a new sleeve to rebuild it, probably isn't going to keep it anywere near as long as it will last. Your just looking for 200 to 210 PSI of cranking compression.

how much would a port and polish job go for and can a local shop do this? as far as having the head shaved down a bit how do I know how much to shave or can i just tell the shop what i'm looking for and they can figure it out?
or should I go with with four stroke techs piston and valve springs and just buy a web cam of my choice?

I asked him what their cam was comparable to as far as a mid to top in cam compabled to like web or megacycle and he acted like he didn't want to tell me anything or didn't know.

I was hoping that I get everthing plus labor for around $500 but if I went with their kit and got a port and polish that it looks like i shoulld just buy the 446 kit.
