anybody use the megacyle cam with .450 lift? does it seem too big for xc racing? im fine if i keep same lower end power as stock and gain mid and upper power but dont wanna lose lower end power compared to stock..... deadlast how can u compare to your .430 cam? btw this will be used on a 400 stroker motor.
 
Well, form what I can tell you prior to my dyno and tuning, the .430 deff took away my low end (guess the guy has it honed in now though but Ill have to test it. A .450 is a big cam. Is it .450 lift both In and Ex? Its gunna take away spme of your lowend but you should be cookin on the high. Good if you were TT or dragin it. XC is mostly all low end and torque. Id say with the 400 kit look for a 430 or webcam sells a .440/.390 cam. that would be interesting. You also have to consider clearance issues. I forget the biggest you can go with out having to shave the head and mess with the deck height to much.

JasonP is great with this info. Hes a cam guy. I knew a while back he had wrote a cam guide. I'll see if I can find it.
 
well this is in the motor dave76 is selling, i believe he has it all set up right. from reading that post, it seems that since the cams are measured different, the .450 megacycle is really almost same figures as .430 web cam. talked to my shop they seem to think the stroker will help out gaining back the lower end lost in the cam and bigger piston. plus there is always gearing i guess lol
 
dont wanna fix it lol just wanna bolt in have jetted and go. and ya i talked to dave on the motor, if all goes good it will be in and done by mid of april
 
i have one of those 252x1 cams brand new and dont want to run it with my current setup. but im hoping to do a stroker build someday (even have a spare motor to use) and thats the cam i plan on running with the stroker.
 
ya thats whats in this 400 stroker motor, hopefully all will be good. if anything i can run stock gearing to gain back the lower end
