Motor reuild?

I think I might have blown up the Warrior at Little Sahara. It is knocking now and when I changed the oil, the filter was full of shavings and had collapsed due to suction.

Is it fried? Can I rebuild it myself? If I have it repaired, around how much money am I looking at?

There's no way to know what the damage is, or what it will cost to repair without taking it apart and finding the cause of the problem. From what it's sounding like from your brief description I think you have a thrown rod bearing. You can do it yourself with the tools, time, and patience. You'll be looking at big bucks to have a shop do, so you're better off trying it yourself and learning a few things along the way.

did it start making the noise all in the sudden if so explain that.... sounds like you have a serve problem there tho unfortunatly... start ripping the whole motor out... and take some clear pictures of the head and piston and cylinder.... also the lower rod bearing... expect to see some blueing there but pay close attention of chunks of metal.... when you find the metal try to determine a shape...(rounded pices that look like a bearing or whatever else).... its going to be tricky for us to tell you what exactly is junk unless it is obvious, but youll pay a arm and a leg taking it somewhere, and its really not that hard....

Well I finally started tearing this engine down to see what went wrong. I found that the ring on the end of the cam had broken off. Then as I pulled the jug off, I noticed the plastic chin guides are torn up, mostly the one on the rear of the head. I have not opened up the bottom end yet. What all does a loose timing chain tear up? Could this be my problem? The timing mark looked like it was 180* off top dead center. I noticed some bluing on the crank, what does that mean? How do you measure the were on the crank bearings?
