****** it I thought it was fixed, but I just looked at the right rear rotor, and the pads aren't even touching the rotor! The piston didn't move out of the caliper at all! I know this caliper worked before, so anybody got ideas?
Do you have a pedal? IIf so, MASH it once with the car OFF.

You might have to re-set the Porportioning valve.
Mashing the brakes wil do that.

If not, you Fubared the other caliper as well.

You DID bleed the caliper you installed.....right?

yes, we bled the line after we installed the new caliper. I don't know how we could have messed up this caliper, after I was done messing with the adjustments and got it pushed back in it, the piston would come out all the way and go in all the way. I'll go MASH on the pedal and see what happens, I hope that does the trick.

I just went ****** nuts on the pedal, and no results except i'm out of breath and I might have just broke my seat slider. I guess i'll take it apart tomorrow and try wiggling the piston loose or something. I'm going to cry if I have to spend another $70 on a new caliper, no more domestic imports for me... except maybe a geo tracker for a beater sometime

Sounds like your breaking more **** then fixing..First the brakes now the seat...hmmm

Let me ask you this:

Have you even tried removing/replacing the brake hose??

Seems to me the 10 minute investment is at least worth a shot.

I'm done ******* around with it. It's going in for state inspection on thursday, and I don't have time before then to mess around with it, so i'm just going to tell them to figure it out.

Well, my car just passed PA state inspection with NO WORK.

? :-/

I guess this place isn't too picky. The e-brake doesn't work at all, and only 3 wheels have functional brakes. I still gotta get it fixed though, so it looks like i'm gonna have to dish out another $70 for a new caliper this weekend.

And can someone run me by the proper way to bleed the brake lines? All I did when we bled the first caliper was sit in the car and pump the pedal, so i'm not sure what to do.

First, go to parts store and get a BIG bottle of brake fluid (or a couple of the smaller ones. Then:

Start on the brake with the longest line from the master cylinder (this is not necessarily the pass. side rear).

Have someone pump the brakes until firm, then hold.

Crack the bleeder valve open until pedal bottoms out.

Repeat until no more air gurgles out of the bleeder.

keep an eye on the fluid reservoir level and replenish as it gets lower.

Repeat this procedure for each subsequent wheel doing the next shortest line, then the next, etc. The last should be the driver's side front.

I generally drive the car back and forth in the driveway a few times, then repeat the above process as necessary.

I'm done working on cars, this **** never goes like it's supposed to for me. I just put the new caliper on, and I can't get the brakes bled right. I've bled both rear lines and the pedal is still spongy as all hell. I don't see any way air could have gotten into the front lines since I didn't touch them. Anybody have some input on this?

If they are stil spongy, there is still air in there- or a leak somewhere.

Try doing the fronts anyway. Air could have gotten pushed back to the mastercylinder from replacing the caliper, then into the front lines.

It may take a couple times around the car to get all the air out.
