My dads a hypocrite!

K well today i was talking about racing/riding as usual, i do it every day and today my dad went off on me? He says i upsess over racing and riding and thats all im worried about. Thats a bunch of bull. First off idk why hes getting mad, i dont do anything to harm him in all this, i dont barrow his money and not pay im back or anything. Second off its not the only thing that i consentrate on, i work hard at jobs that i have and i get great grades, a steady 3.6995 every year. 3rd off i do nothing wrong, i feel like im a great kid, I dont go to parties, do drugs or drink, i dont get in truble at school. Im sure if thats all i consentrated on i would be nowhere in life sitting at home ever day doing nothing.

I called him a hypocrit because this is a bunch of B.S. The only reason why i think hes mad is becuase hes not interested in riding hes never done it and never will. If i was talking about sports and doing the same thing over like say football he would be like o good job, and talk to me about it. All he does about racing is tell me to shut up. This is bull ****.

O today i knew it was making him mad so when we were at dinner i started talking to my dog about racing(he listens to me all the time hahahha) and my dad just stared at me and i was like "What at least he will listen to me and what im interested in!" He just gave me a blank star after that. I thought that was pretty funny!

Bro your at that age were pops is looking for somthing outta ya, but your interested in this sport, and you should be able to do what you want at your age. If my pops ain't interested in somthing I just don't talk to him haha. Anyway later in life pop will be coming to you to do everything for him trust me I know.

I'm sure most parents are like that, haha. Mine sure are. A long time ago when I was soon going to get my first quad (KFX 80) I did a bunch of research and would talk to my family about it everyday at dinner until they just told me to shut up, lol (well they didn't literally say it like that) and then I got it. You know, you may like to talk about it and stuff but everyone listening either don't understand or don't really care for it the way you do, that's why there are these forums, you talk to people who share the same interest and get you. I remember my cousin was obbsessed with this one video game and all vacation he would talk to me, my family my aunt, uncle everyone about it and about the items, we didn't get a word he said nor did we really care for what he was talking about and it just got annoying he just wouldn't shut up lol. When you talk to people about a particular subject basically if there not into the same hobby or whatever they could really care less. I'm not trying to say your dad doesn't care about you or anything he just doesn't share the same hobby.

Maybe its time to meet your dad half-way....

Start going to parties and drinking.

That'll give him something else to focus on, and he'll leave you alone about the atv stuff.

If that fails.... drugs... lots of drugs.

I guess I lucked out, my dad is a mechanic and has ridden dirtbikes for the past 20 years. So its fun talking about riding and buying parts. Its my mom who obsesses over my grades, and my future, I know she means well but sometimes it drives me nuts.

Nice thing about being at college is I only have to talk to them when I call them.

At first my dad used to be like yours. I would talk about my scrambler 90 all the time. About how I wanted to paint this or upgrade that. At first you can tell he was annoyed but when when I got older he learned to deal and help me. We did a full rebuild on my old quad and he seemed to enjoy as much as me. Every now and then he gets annoyed when I talk about modding this or doing that, he just tells me to leave it alone. Also for friends I suggest looking for some that like quads haha. I have two friends at school then there is not a day that goes by that we dont talk about quads/

Well im glad to hear im not the only one with with parents like this. And for friends everyone of my friends ride, thats what we all have in commen and all i do is talk about riding to them. Even when they dont want to.

He had a shitty day at work, I'm guessin, you know as well as I that I his job sucks and is awesome at the same time. He'll get over it as well as you should and never give up on telling him what your into. Deep down he loves to know everything we do. Tell him what you think like how you stated it here in this topic, then see where he stands. Griff, funny as hell but I look out for my bro and he don't need to go down that crazy road. hahahahah. Its all Gravy and I think his stand will change this year as we drag him out to ride with us not that we finally fixed his quad.
