Hey everyone, i recently threw the rod bearing in my 2001. I have the motor out and broke down, the jug looks real good and the head is pretty nice also. So i figured im jst going to do a mild buget build. Heres what im thinking, please add any ideas you have.

Motor:
Stock bore Wiseco 10.25:1 piston
Wiesco crank assy.
Big Bear oil cooler
yz250 Driven shifter
Rappy clutch parts
EBC clutch kit
K&N filter no lid
Carb or Jetting????? (Eld. is a little to pricey for me right now)
DG exaust

Chassis:
ARS +2 a arm kit
YFZ450r front shocks (with shock conv. kit)
01 rappy 660 rear shock

Any other must have mods??

might as well cam it since your tearing into it

I agree with this, very much. I have the 10.25:1 piston, because I was in need of rings and valve seals. I now regret not getting a cam at the same time. It would have woken the warrior up even more.

yeah thats what im afraid of, thats why i think im jst going to steer clear of any head work... save it for the next rebuild

im gonna have to dis agree with the wiseco crank i have one in my sheered just outside the main bearing on the fly wheel side at the 6 month mark and ate the head alll up took them 2 monthes to inspect the break they did determin it as factory flaw but id go with the hot rods crank

deffinently wanna put a cam in it while you have it this far apart and have the valve seals chainged and valve seals cheched for a good seal

you are should also get a pipe for sure if your going internal wise on the motor work

Sorry guys i did forget to mention i do have a full DG exaust.

Thanks for the tip about the crank, i have heard good things about the Hot Rods cranks

So everybody votes cam huh? If i do a Hot Cams stage 1 will i need springs?
Im in school so each part is going to take like 2 weeks of saving, some 4 weeks, thats why i was trying to stay away from head work

the stage one will NOT require springs or valves and you will definently feel a fifference

and on a side note if you are looking for throttle responce on a budget a cam e3 spark plug and a rm stator cdi box will make it like a holly 4 bearl carb
