need help quick!

hi guys i am rebuilding my 01 wolvy and i need to know what would cause my piston to be scratched on the intake side and not on the exhaust side. and 1 more thing is there soposed to be needle bearings on the piston pin. thankyou for the help.

Its scratched on the intake side possibly because the way the particals enter the cyclinder and it could also be because the rotation of the crank has a natural tendency to push it to that side as it wears.

And no there is not supposed to be a bearing on the piston pin.
