Hello all! I have a 2001 Warrior 350. It will not start by electric start. Initially the starter went out. Internals completely destroyed itself. I have had the starter rebuilt before so I just sucked it up and bought a new one. Prior to the starter going out it started and ran GREAT. New starter came in, bolted up, and it would not start. Yes, the key is on, the kill switch is in the run position, and bike is in neutral, and for good measure clutch pulled in.

Tested battery, 12.7+ volts on a new battery. Tested spark, good to go, replaced plug anyways, good spark on it too. Tested compression, good to go. Still no electric start. Pulled behind another atv, popped clutch, and started like normal. Once started it ran just as it ever had before. Once warmed up, shut it down, tried to start electrically, would not start. To be clear, the motor IS turning over, but it will not actually start.

I checked the starter solenoid, good to go. Checked the neutral safety switch, bad! Changed it out, still no electric start. I am not incredibly smart on the electrical parts of this bike. But it seams to me that it is either the Stator or the CDI box. As they are both somewhat expensive, any help you guys could give me would be greatly appreciated.

Did you pull the plug and ground it to the motor to see if it is actually sparking when you turn the motor over?

Yes. That is how I tested the original plug and the new plug I replaced with.

is it turning over fast enough with the electric starter? warriors can be a pain to start if the starter isn't turning the motor over fast enough

Is your reverse shifter grounded?
I had a problem like that and my reverse shifter was not grounded.
This is a easy fix if it is not.

YAMAHAULER: I don't know of a way to check how quickly the starter is turning. It sounds the same as it did before the starter went out. But I don't know any way to check that. Is there any way you know of to check something like that?

sea157: The grounding cable is still present and connected for the reverse shift knob. I know I double checked to make sure that the lever was completely in Forward and not Reverse, but I didn't check to make sure my ground was good. I will have to grab the voltmeter and look into it.

Yes check it out; I had to run a new ground cable from my reverse shifter to the frame before mine would start.

But then again I never tried to bump start mine (pull behind another quad), seems if it starts that way all wiring would be OK.

but usually if it starts by bump starting and not by electric start it's usually a bad stator pickup coil and or source coil

The ground on the reverse lever is good to go. And the neutral light is lit up when I try to start it. Sounds like its a stator or stator pickup coil. I ordered a new one so I'll let you know how it goes.
