No spark, is it the stator?

yupp, the wardog is gettin back at me for lettin it sit so long. Finally got all my parts in and on. GO to start it and got nothing. Pulled the plug and no spark. I test what you could test and think I have narrowed it down to stator (?) I need one of you electrical nuts to help me out.

I get a peak jump on the white wires of my stator, but get nothing off the colored one? Is it just the source coil? m This stator is not much over a year old and worked fine when I parked it? Why no spark now? Its pissin me off. Plus after ridin 87 killer warrior, makes me kinda want to give up and burn the damn thing. Hahahah :argh:

Any help or ideas? main wire is good, and fuse is fine, coil is good. switch appears to be working. Im scratchin my head here.

I still say you should try and push start it man. If im not mistaken one of the coils in the stator is for spark while its turning over trying to fire and the other coil is to keep the spark continuous while its running. Thats how i under stood it. Never know, give it a try, it might just start.

but if I have it turning over and it wont fire, what will a bump start do? Weather I'm turning the engine over via the starter or chain (bump start) its still doing the same thing. I'd still get no spark.

Who know how to test these thing accurately. Th book just confuses me.

Well if you try and bump start it and its in gear with the clutch let out all the saftey switches will be deactivated. So in theory it should switch to the coil that sends spark when its runnin. DOes that make sense or am i way off haha

I took mine in whlie it was on the quad. The dealer charged my $15.00 to test ohms and amps. I picked it up 2hrs later and they told me what to replace

The start won't spin it fast enough to get a real good spark, if you are pull starting it with it in gear it will spin faster thus getting a more hotter fire. Its worth a shot to see if it will pull start.

Well if your stator is an Rmstator it will ohm different than a stocker. Ive got the specs from them if thats what you put in last year.

Well, I'll try a bump and see. Its worth a shot I suppose. SO if it dose fire off a bump, what is my issue them? I'd still not be gettin fire off the starter button.

Cool. Thnaks guys. The electrical system is something I really need to investigate more. Its the only part of the warriors that leave me scratching my head.

Been there man, but since electrical problems is all I ever really have Ive been getting to know the system pretty good. Grounds is another big thing for getting a spark.

Ok on a side note dead did you decided to run that um airbox? Befor you ride it much check and see if the filter addaptor to the air box is sealed the one I got wasn't so I siliconed it so no non filtered air would get through

Stators, when running right should throw out 100+ V between the wires, (one of my motorcycles throws 125+v) which runs up to the regulator/rectifier
to charge the battery and run the lights.

IIRC, (it's this way on my 2 little Chinese ones) Your stator also sends out a "pulse timer" which is a signal to the CDI, which then feeds a signal to the coil, and when working correctly causes the spark to flash HOT.
If the pulse timer is bad, you get spark out of ti
me, which can be weak or non-existent.

I would speculate bad stator or Coil. Also check to see if your coil has a good ground.

Warriors electrical is awesome, in that it's very basic.

You can bump the starter switch and everything turns over correct(that's how I'm reading it). Your Kill switch interrupts 12v to the starter relay. Do your lights come on w/key on?

ETA: I just re-read the OP. Your white wire is the pulse timer(99% sure) Without a cignal to the CDI, the coil cannot fire "in time". Pull your Stator and check it out, make sure the magnets/contacts are clean. Ohm out the two voltage wires, check to see if you at least have good coils. Then Ohm each wire to ground. NONE should show ground.

I dunno what half of that means but I think I can figure it out.

Think it will start on a pull start if I'm not getting any spark on button starter. Dunno if my lights work, I took them off and sold 'em. The switch does work.

Also, on the whit wires, i just get an intinal peak reading off my meter, not a constant? Color wires I get nothing.
My grounds are good. (Least I think they are, they should be.)

Ohming the colored stator wires you get nothing?
