I just picked up a '99 warrior that seem to not want to start. I drained and put new gas in, and put in a new plug and checked for spark, has spark. I can smell gas after I crank it for a bit, so I'm thinking maybe it's overly rich? Air filter is dirty, but I pulled it out after it failed to start and that didn't change anything either.

I new to this stuff, so any suggestions, even the simple ones would be appreciated.

Check the carb, and clean it. Mine quit running on me one time out of the blue, and wouldn't start back same as yours (could even smell gas after cranking). when I got into it the seal off the air filter had been sucked off and was in the carb (Thankfully in one piece) blocking the air flow. Maybe you have a little piece of dirt, rubber etc.... clogging or jaming something in the carb. If you are at a fairly similar elevation to where the warrior was running when you got it, it should at least start (maybe not stay running), even if it is rich. Unless the motor is modified, I doubt that that part of the jetting has been changed.

Well, after messing with it some more today, I can get it to finally fire. I just have to crank it a bit while pumping the gas and it eventually starts. It stays idling once running and I drove it around the farm some. If I shut it off and go to restart it, it does the same thing all over again.

While riding it, I noticed the throttle likes to occassionally stick open some. I think that may be carb related also as the throttle lever pops right back when I let go.

I guess I get to try my hand at taking the carb off and cleaning it. I did get a Clymer manual with it, hopefully it's written simple enough for me to follow it.
