okay since i got it apart again im gunna do the cooler mod but i got to thinking the clutch cover coolers dont do nothing. cause you need one out pressure and a return and you cant drill in the same galley or galaxy. it would just sit in the cooler and do nothing. and i dont have room for the big bear cause my direct shifter i think.
 
the clutch cooler works and works well, FST has been selling them for 20yrs. It doesn't just sit in the cooler, the oil pump pumps it through and it puts the cooler oil right on the crank bearing
 
I've always been curious how the crank case oil cooler works, maybe someone could show some details and draw it out a bit to see how it gets pumped and what not? I guess maybe it's self explanatory and I'm just not seeing it lol.
 
I saw an oil routing diagram somewhere on here but can't find it now. So basiclly you are plugging the galley the flow directly to the crank and redirect it through the cooler and back to the galley. the galley is wider where you plug and reroute the oil then it goes to a small hole on the lower cover and sprays the crank bearing. I don't know, by those pics it looks like it's just adding to holes into the case, not sure how it pumps the oil?
 
But how when the bungs (connections) are so close together? I just don't get it I guess. Maybe if I were looking inside the case where the cover goes I'd understand better when I get around to doing the engine upgrades on mine maybe I'll be able to figure it out better.
 
The space between the casses is filled with jb weild or epoxy so the oil pump pressureizes the oil gallies and forces it though the cooler
 
As stated above, you fill the gap between the holes with quick steel, jb weld etc, The oil pump pushes it out one hole thru the cooler and back in the other,I have this set up and i assure you it works.
 
I'm not doubting weather it works or not. I really doubt so many would of done the mod if it didn't do anything. I was just curious how exactly it works.
 
It works great. As they siad when the holes are drilled, liquid steel or something like it is put in the galley. It help with finding neutral and getting it in and out of reverse. I can vouch for how well it works, for one my 99 has it done and it made a hell of a difference. Two I've modded many covers for members on here, yzdude250f is one of them. I have one at home that I'm doing for jbooost that I'm waiting on a fitting for, ill take a pic of the blocked galley so you can understand how it works better. After all I am the clutch cover mod guru!!!

That helps a bit, would still be nice to see a picture of the blocked off galley so I know exactly what you're talking about.
 
Hopefully you can see it in the pics. Where the liquid steel is at is between the 2 holes that are drilled in the cover. Need to get inside cleaned up a little better, but it should help see the blocked galley.

Maybe this will help. This is a side view of the clutch cover with the oil galley running along the inside of it. Think of the black line as your clutch cover and the brown box the the left of it as the oil galley on the inside of the cover.

When the pressurized flow of oil is blocked, it is forced out to the cooler and back into the galley thru the new fitting directly across from the end of the crank. I hope this helps you some. Im very visual and have to see how things work before i try them too.
 
Ok, makes sense now. Seems like the oil would be a bit restricted though because it's meeting a 90 degree turn.
 
Might be a little, but when I do mine I put some in the of the liquid steel in the bottom of that hole and slope it since you cant sink the fittings in that deep. Of coaurse though oil dont care, you should see some of the angles the oil in my trucks motor has to flow.
