Okay you guys stupid question probally but, when you check your oil do you run it for about a min then check it? whats the proper method to get the most accurate reading..

also do you guys just rest the stick in the case or do you actually screw it all the way in and unscrew it to check the oil? thanks~!

the reason i ask is cause when i just rest the dipstick and pull it out the level is low but when i screw it in and chec it the oil level is at max

your supposed to run it for 2mins then let it set for 2 mins, and check it without screwing it in, obviously tthis may vary depending on if youve done a oil cooler or whatever

Both my dirt bikes were this way.
Anymore, if they have a dipstick, and are a quad/thumper, this is the rule of thumb for me.

So you check it when its warm if it hass a cooler a? Good to know didn't know that

yeah teh only thing im unsure with the cooler is that when you leave it sit it could drain back into the motor depending on its mounting, so i check mine immedietly after so i know what the level is like when its running, and i think why they have you start it up is to get the oil moved around up into the head and everything
