So i was stopped by a police officer today right outside my house because i was riding on my road my house is on. (its not a main road like there are 5 houses on my road and no one bothers anyone). He told me this story about that riding on the roads is illegal even if i did only ride 0.1 mile. yea thats not a typo its how far i have to get to my house to the trail. About 500 feet if that. He told me if he catches me again i lose my license and get a citation. Now i tryed talking with him nicely but he wasnt having it. I thought there was a law about you can ride on a road in PA if it withen a mile of the trail you are going on. is there anyway around this or am i just stuck not going riding because this cop....

You gotta try and ride when there is the least amount of traffic, like late Sunday evenings and such. I've gotten stopped for turning around on a main highway on my warrior, the first time I rode it after I bought it.

just push er, thats what we did before they opened up the rodes here

There is never any traffic on my road though it's so lame

yeah, i would say its illegal to ride on the highway pretty much anywhere unless someplaces allow you to be properly tagged and whatnot.

around here its not legal, but i still ride on the blacktop. if they see me they gotta catch me. not saying i have a fast bike, but i know these trails and woods like the back of my hand lol.

well im going out in like 20 min hopefully the township police or the CSX train police dont get me wish me luck

see where two wheels are better than 4. i've run on pig trials a crap prolly 4 times in my life. they always send in a description of my bike (call to the jail and ask) but then i have a dirt bike i make it look like everyone else in the area. so far never found me haha.then first time i set on a quad in 6 years i get pulled over :/ and i was on a dirt road haha

where i ride we can ride on most the rodes, just theres a speed limit of 25

You can pretty well ride anywhere you want around here as long as you have a helmet on.
Ride through the middle of town and wave at the cops as you go past

Do you live by the Hatfield mccoy trails or whatever its called?

next time dont stop.... also its not about how fast you go either.... you can be going 20 and have the cop right on your ass... just dont stop until you hit the trail.... and even after that dont stop for awhile.... my friend once out ran the cops for like 2 miles down the road once.... on a 200 threewheeler going a brisk 35 or so hahaha of course that was when we were young and dumb.... which (no offense) is probably how old you are now

Well there's obviously no tolerance for that in the hood. They will cut you off with their cars or chase you on their enduros.
I've had the same things happen to me though and really all you can do is not get caught by same cop or just push it to where the trail is. But even if you have tags and register the machine, it is illegal to ride a four wheeler on the "highway" or public road in PA.

Yup ;D

Gosh!! so lucky i have always wanted to live there or just take a trip and stay there a while looks like the best place to be for fourwheeler riders.

Back to the main subject. Per PA law, you can only ride an atv on the street if you come to a complete stop and cross directly from one side to the other, you can't ride down the road for any distance. You're lucky you got a warning, cops around here will write ya up the first time. Not to say that we don't ever ride on the roads here, some guys do. I bought my dual sport for several reasons, one being that I can ride it to any of the trails around here for as far as I want on the road and it's as legal as riding any other motorcycle.

I look forward to getting snow storms, once a winter weather emergency is declared you can ride anywhere as long as you say you're going to get necessary supplies and can't safely drive the car in the snow. Food, etc. That's the best because it irritates the cops to death to see someone rolling through the town square on a quad and gassing up at the exxon and there's nothing he can do to stop it.

well when it snows it a free for all. Stop signs, red lights, nothing matters really. We can go nuts with the exeption of pissin cops off on purpose then they'll def lock you up and take your ****. Best to just look up local ordinance to see. Thats what i did when i got caught in Jersey.
