2002 warrior, got it from a guy yesterday , had been sitting for a while I think. I changed the gas and cleaned spark plug, it was severely fouled . He said his dad accidentally filled with two stroke . The quad starts right up now and idles perfect , but smokes , when I give it throttle it wants I bog down and stall. Any help?? Thanks in advance !-Kyle

Clean, rebuild and adjust the carb.
Should work good.
If the smoke is black it is probably running way to rich.

Also check the manifold for any cracks or tears in the rubber.

Ok will do, my neighbor said it was without a doubt the rings have gone bad?? But I think the neither of us really know for sure . It drives around in first gear with very low throttle . So I'm assuming I would know if it was something more serious , like rings or pistons??? Amd wouldnt it be black Smoke since oil was leaking???Than again would carb problems be causing the smoke ?? My brother in law is coming in the morning to pull and clean carb and jets thoroughly , think this might work?? Thanks a ton

Clean up the carb good and try and get it to run even at light throttle and get it moving build some heat and see if it gets better. Hopefully from someone cranking it it didn't wash the walls.

Thanks man I do appreciate your help

Curious what do you mean wash the walls? I'm assuming that's a horrible thing... I'm really just hoping I didn't waste my hard earned money on something that is totaled..??!! I drove it a round a let her idol for about 20 mins , but still just smoking and won't let me throttle up without it bogging out. Gosh I wish I had the confidence to take apart that carb my self. Would the carb being gummed up have anything todo with it burning too rich causing the smoke? And lack of power/ throttle ?

First, what color is the smoke? Black, white or blue?
Fknboss is referring to "washing the walls" or gasoline taking all the oil off the walls of the cylinder.
I wouldn't worry about it if you still have compression. If you are still worried you can put a little oil down the spark plug hole. Cleaning the carburetor is super easy.

The smoke is a light grayish smoke, grayish white . What would oil down the spark plug whole do?

Washed walls happen when the plug fouls and is continuously cranked. The engine keeps pulling in fuel that's never ignited and actually washes the oil off the cylinder wall. Then the rings ride dry on the cylinder wall and it polishes it and looses compression.

Just pull the carb bowl off. The jets are screwed in the bottom. Some carb clean and compressed air should work just do a quick clean to see if you get anything.

I think there was some rev limiter from the parking brake. At least in my 660. I unplugged the pins there and was fine.

Helllllllllppppppp

So we got the carb off and cleaned it real good, as soon as we put it back on, FOR THE FIRST TIME,,,the warrior throttle opened up and I was finally able to hear what it SHOULD sound like, even though it was still smoking, I was happy that at least the fuel issue was solved......NOPE, about thirty seconds into idling I tried to rev it up again, and it did the same bogging down and not letting me rev at all, almost stalling out. I am so confused. I'm pretty sure (maybe.....??????)either the valves need adjusting or the rings are bad is why it's smoking like it is,but how could the carb go from freed up to right back to the other day, also when he pulled carb out, he checked diaphragm , said it was really loose and flimsy, what would this affect? Does that come in a rebuild kit? Thanks guys for the help again!

Did you check the intake manifold for any leaks or tears in the rubber?

Usually the intake manifold causes detonation and loud back fires. Bogging is rich. Is the plug gapped correctly? Possible the valves are loose particularly the intake side.

Are you getting any backfires? Or ticking in the exhaust?

I think he was bs'n me on alot of the stuff he "knew", there was a white plastic shield piece o the carb that covers a black really flimsy rubber thing with a strong spring behind it? (my choke was really smooth before he messed with it)and the choke did make a difference when I moved it during idle, but now it's sticky and doesn't do anything when i pull it. So I am gonna bring it to a specialist I guess when I have the money... -there are no cracks in the rubber intake manifold, and no backfiring, how do I check distance in plug? I knew I should of let someone do it right the first time, arhhhhhhh !! I just wanna ride...what is causing to burn so much fuel???

The floats seemed to be really clean as the inside of jets, as far as I know
