Is there any aftermarket company that makes a CDI with a programmable rev limiter? I was thinking about building a high rpm 366 but I don't want to over rev it and blow something.

well you'll never really over rev it....the valves will start floating before
If he changes the valve springs you can over rev it. Dynatek is the best and the programmable one is available for 87 to 01. 02 is not programmable but has a rev limiter, well if you wanna call it that (15,000 RPM).

The CDI itself is 350 I think but you can get one closer to 250 on ebay. The programming software and the cable runs another $100, and that'll plug into a laptop. (or you could make due with a desktop computer if that's all you have)

yes you will over rev the engine but it won't make any power up there. I did have mine set to 11,000 and it would rev that high.
I have mine set to 9,500 rpm. Anything after that RPM it will not make any more power. I'd say right around 8,500 rpm is peak for my engine and thats with porting and bigger valve. I do have my cam 5 degrees advanced so I loose just a hair on the top but make more torque on the bottom.
