im going down a tooth and i only have a high comp piston, procircuit and a K&n
I'd add a tooth to the front sprocket even if it's stock. A Warrior/Rappy 350 from a dead stop in second gear can flip over backwards if you give it a bunch of gas and let the clutch fly. That's way more torque than you really need. Have you ever noticed that first gear is pretty much useless??? One tooth up in the front and you'll be surprised how much more you can use first gear. Even the steepest hillclimbs around I'd pull in second gear on mine until I changed the front sprocket, it's how Yamaha should have done it from the beginning...
This is completely your opinion, don't come across like it's fact.Disagree all you want. You have a six gear transmission, why only have five that are useable??? That's what you get from the factory, five useable gears and one useless one. One tooth up on the front and that gear is now useable, each gear is longer, and you added a few mph. Drop a tooth and now you have basically two useless gears....
BTW, don't mean that to be a smartass.
Umm..i ride in PA all the time b/c i ****** live there...i used to have a 13 tooth and its to high..i was bogging all the time with it..so i went to 12..best choice i ever made..its great now..i race XC and all the trails around me are really ******* tight..Come ride in PA and you'll see the tight, technical, rocky trails we have here. It's not all wide open. Why do you think so many GNCC pros come from PA? If you can ride fast here, you can ride fast anywhere. So I do know about the tight stuff you ride in. Read the posts above with the people who have gone up a tooth and say there's not much of a loss of low end, obviously I'm not the only one who has this opinion. If there was a substantial loss of low end I'd understand, but there's not. Let's just agree to disagree and leave it at that.....
