So today I was in the woods and my start button decided to stop working? I got power, headlights work and all that but the button does nothing? I can bump start just fine and jump the solenoid just fine?

is there a fix for that? are there contacts in the start button assembly maybe got dirty? any suggestions are appreciated!

tear it apart and check it, yes there are contacts in there, if they are good and you are sure your solinod is good trace the wires for a break in them

So I just went to the quad today after letting it sit over night and the start button works flawlessly? I don't get it? I dont want this to happen in the woods again anything else I should check? I cleaned the connections inside the Button assembly in the woods yesterday and it didn't work?

follow the wires and clean the wires at the plug and at the solinod, and in case it happens again carry a screwdriver undeer your seat so you can jump the solinod

i was acually about to start a new thread aout this same problem, exept with mine it stopped working then it worked the next time i tried to start it,then it stopped again, but there is one difference... i have no power when it goes out, no headlights or any thing, the only way to make it start is to jump the solenoid, sooo my question is.. that would mean that my solenoid is bad right??

Check your plug

how would that have anything to do with my plug, it starts fine, but the power cuts out and the battery is charged and every thing, just just have to jump the solenoid to get it to turn over

Because there is no power getting to the starter switch and head lights.. Acting like the wheeler is dead.
Could be the wiring harness plug for the, on/off switch, the actual on/off switch or cdi box and wire inbetween these parts.

There is a diagram in the manual. If you don't have let me see if I can post it.

i just went out ther and looked at it, yesterday i coulnt get head lights or anything, but now I have power, this atv is retarded, any suggestions, also i dont think its the on off switch because, like i just said i have lights now, and it will start, i just gotta jump the solenoid, even yesterday when i couldnt get lights it would still start

I ment the key on and off switch.

So it will start if you jump the solenoid with a screw driver? And you are saying sometimes it has lights and sometimes not?

yes it does start and run fine, and as i said in another post at first i couldnt get lights or power, but now i do have power, but it doesnt turn over with the start button, i have to jump the solenoid to get it to turn over

So a way to check that is take a dvom meter and check voltage at the solenoid turn on wire, which comes off the start button. If there is voltage there, on and off with the starter button then you know that the solenoid is bad. If you don't have switching power then you know that it could be the wire to and from the switch, maybe a plug, or the starter switch itself.

I noticed something on my quad today whileinspecting the wiring under the fender. There is a square plug right by the solenoid and it is hanging down and all the plastic is cracked off. Does this have anything to do with the start button?

I looked in the owners manual. It looks like it is the nuetral switch relay. Would that contribute to the start button not working ?

yup almost positve it is cause i dont have to hol the clutch in to start it..

That relay maybe what's wrong with it because if I take it off of mine it will run but you have to jup the sylinoid to start it
