So I'm working on this warrior and it wont start......the exhaust valve is not shutting all the way.....I don't think this piece has had an oil chance in the last 20+ years.......needless to say the oil is very very thing and gunky.

I have freed the valve up some but it still doesn't shut on its own under the power of the spring so, I tell the kid this and he doesn't want to pay to have a valve or for anything else and I sure as hell ant going to take it apart for nothing. SO....I'm gust gunna do my best to clean it up inside. Can I buy an additive in the oil and run it for a hot minuet then do a regular oil change and it be fine?

I don't care if it blows up or craps out on him and I m sure if it does he can deal with it because hes the cheap ass that doesn't want to spend to get it fixed right.

Any suggestions. Will the additive do much damage (can be worse then how crappy the oil in it now is) I just want to get it running again and give it back to him.

Additives shouldn't hurt anything, the worst they could do is make the clutch slip a little, and most likely only having it in there for a short time won't be enough to do any long term damage, once you get fresh oil back in it should come back to life.

What did you try using to free up the valve? Did you try shooting some sort of solvent like carb cleaner or PB blaster on the shaft of the valve and try to work it into the guide? Most likely it's carbon buildup and some corrosion between the seals jamming it up.

If you're going to try the oil additives I would recommend Lucas products, that's about the only additives that i've ever used that were worth more than their weight in water. I've used the fuel injector and upper cylinder additives and the power steering leak stopper they make and both have worked well for me.

Yeah sometimes this will just happen from bad gas. Gum up the valve stem and causes it to stick open. Some times will burn the seat. I would try to take the valve out or clean up the stem and run some new gas with a little 2 stroke oil, one tank of gas. It will smoke but lube the valve stems and guides and should free it up.
What might have happened is that it dropped the guide and now the valve is hitting it.

ended up takin the head out.......the kid said he'd cough up some money, and if not I have my self another war dog! (hahahahah) The rocker arm was seized in its pin.......and so bad that the pin wont even come out.....im gunna have to drill it. Anyone have head parts for sale?
