Hi guys...

Quick question....On my 97,the starter is not making any attempt at turning over,so need to test it.

Ran great last time out....now,nothing....known good battery, all lights work, etc, but nothing at the starter...tried jumping the terminals on the solenoid, get sparks, but nothing from the starter...not even a click...starter,right..???

Is it ok to test the starter direct while its in the bike..??..??..How..??

If the starter clutch fails(was noisy like most),and is locked up,I should still get a sound from the starter trying to turn over,correct..???

Thanks guys..!!

I'd pull the starter and hook it to a battery with jumper cables, positive to the post the wire goes to and negative to the housing. You can try while it's hooked up but it is tight in the so hooking the jumper to it might be difficult
