Yes, I did a search, but found no definitive answers.
Looking for mainly the head gasket preference for those who have used various brands. Not too concerned with the O-rings or base gaskets, as I'd guess they're all basically the same quality.

I find Tusk, Vesrah, Cometic, K&K and some others that I've never heard of. Some are MLS steel, some look like they are fiber with a fire ring. Pricing runs from insanely cheap $21 up to $60 +/-. Makes me say hmmmm...

My quad is and will be bone stock and standard bore, and not necessarily looking for thicker or thinner head/base gaskets to change compression. I have no problem retorquing 'em after a few heat cycles.

Any known repeated failures by any brand?
TIA,
Pete

I always use cometic on my 2stroke yz, decided to go the cheap route on my warrior stock motor, went with the tusk set.I would have no problem with using it again. If I was going to do a mod motor build, I would go with cometic.

Both Cometic and versah are great brands, real quality gaskets. And they both sell a kit that lowers the deck height slightly.

If I went with a 10.5-1 piston and the thinner gaskets what would compression be, any ideas?

You already have a 10.5-1 ratio already thats pretty decent, the lower gasket might give a little more, you could always have the head deck milled a tad to gain some more, just be sure to due your measurements and leave room for valve to clear the piston, or new rebuild will be over before it even runs.

I was just curious how much they actually bump up compression that's all:)

Cometic is what i use. got them on my warrior and i'm about to use them on my blaster.

personally i wouldnt cheap out on gaskets because even the expensive ones arent that much money. not to mention if you blow a head gasket or something starts leaking it really sucks tearing apart a freshly rebuilt motor to replace the gasket toy shouldnt have cheaped out on in the first place. ive had cheapies fail so now i buy quality. i typically run cometic

I ended up with the Namura set, along with the rings. Quality of the materials looks great, but the base gasket itself is cut a bit small. It doesn't cover all of the machined surface on the case. Probably would work just fine, but I'll probably make my own since I have material. I am picky. Everything else, including the multi later steel head gasket, fits perfect.
