Hey guys, just wondering what everyone thinks of a twist throttle on a quad, I've been playing with the idea but still am not sure if I should go for it or not. I know both have advantages and disadvantages, just want a few opinions.....

I find twist to be a personal thing, some people like it and some dont (most dont on a quad for various feasible reasons).

I personally like the thumb better for quads for hill climbs and drifting/making wide turns; the action in the wrist on an ATV is dif. then on a bike.

Its hard to get used to, i run one now, but i sometimes wish i had a thumb, jumping is a little harder. But i like the twist more for just plain riding.

If I were you I would just put your money for something else jets, needles etc.

my bike is jetted perfect man, had my Dynojet kit for a long time now

My suggestion: find someone else that already has a twist throttle on their quad. Test ride it and see if you like the twist throttle before you spend your money on it. I probably would have bought one myself if I hadn't put the neighbor's 440ex into a tree because of it. (he told me "naw it's not hard to ride", then I accidentally gunned the throttle, and pulled a wheelie going around a bend straight into a tree) That was enough to convince me that thumb throttle works better on quads.

i think a twist kit on a quad is a pain in the a$$ and is just a stupid idea

if you want a twist i think you should just go and buy a dirt bike

*just my opinion

people put a twist on their quad becasue they liked it on their dirtbike in the first place, it's just so much simpler, insted of holding the right bar with just the crooks of your fingers, you got the whole thing grasped in your fist. just remember how your hand feels after riding for a few hours working your thumb back and forth, you'll never be bothed again with a twist

I got a bike, I like the twist, just not sure about it on the quad because of the different riding position, thats why I asked........and my decision.... keep the thumbie, the thumb action on my bike is light and I've never had a sore thumb, just wanted to see if there was an advantage of having one, but I guess there isn't, so the thumbie stays thanks guys

well if your not a wuss and ride enugh it wont bother you now will it, if you want a dirtbike felling sell the warrior and buy one

:'(du tum twaddle huwts my little thummy :'( ::) ::)

I always wanted one on mine, but now I'm so used to the thumb that it's easier to keep it and I would miss it if I changed now.

Evilhaze made a very valid point about gripping being better on a twist throttle, but with the hills I climb.... I've fell off of the back of bikes going up hills and if you hang on, it's pinned wide open! Don't forget that there are all kinds of twist throttles as well. Some will peg out quickly, like a quarter turn, and others have a much longer travel.

I originally thought I wanted a twist, but after a day of wet riding and a slipping grip, I think the twist would be more difficult to hold on to.

KID you are the fluid in the douch bag, and everybody knows your the biggest puss next to corko,
and you don't have the mental capacity to work a twist throttle, so keep your useless comments to yourself

you buy me one, ill show ya and then ill cram it right up your ass.

then you can walk around sayin "i got my a$$ gauged by a twist throttle"

Cramming stuff up another guy's ass? That would classify you as a homosexual in my books. It's just not right to threaten another man's bunghole.
