I know this has probably been asked before (many times) but I'm new and need some input.

I just got this 01 Warrior 350. The rockers are noisy! I hear a lot of people say this is common but I think they are too noisy. My friend has a 2000 and his is quite compared to mine.

I adjusted them according to specs.. and yes the first time I used inches.. I quickly figured out my mistake and re-adjusted them in MM. It still seems loud.

I did notice the adjuster screw isn't flat. Is that normal or is it worn? Can I go any tighter than specs? Could it be something else making the noise and it just sounds like lifter tap?

Thanks,
Bill

Wow, I have this exact scenario. My rockers are loud and my buddy's 2000 is way quieter than mine too. I think his machine has fewer hours on it, but I would still like to know the reason for the noise being the level it is.

I had a 98 warrior with the same exact problem but it had very few hours on it i only rode it occasionally at my cabin since most of my time was spent working on my 250r or at the track. I hav sold that warrior about 3yrs ago and the problem never seemed to go away.

check ur timing chain ... my was loud too i adjusted the valves and it was still loud , changend the timing chain and the noise stopped.... take the 12mm bolt out of ur tensioner on the back of the head dont let the spring pop out then take the 8mm out of the tensioners ,take it off and look to see how far out it is ..mine had about 1/2 of travel left ....replaced the chain, reset the tensioner and the noise was gone
just make sure to get it back in time right !

I'm pretty sure mine still has the original one on it. Did you happen to measure how much yours was stretched after you took it off 2000warrior?

If I do this and don't turn the motor over, can I put it all back in w/o messing up the timing? Or once you pull it out, you have to re-time?

yeah, your most likely going to have to re-time it when you put it back together but its super easy. No worries on that issue. If you do decide to get a new chain, try and get a DID.

timing is pretty ez..... just TAKE UR TIME!! or you'll end up like me with a busted camshaft i got in a hurry

it didnt look to bad ... but once i changed it there was a huge difference is the noise level... i hung them up next to each other and the old one was maybe a 1/4 inch or just a lil more longer than the new .. wasnt much at all as far as lookin at it but made a BIG diff once changed

So if I just pull the tensioner to see how far out it is and stick it back in, I'll still have to adjust the timing? Not "affraid" to, just wondering.

no .. you can pull the tensioner and not have to redo timing , take out the 12mm first, then the spring, then the two 8mm then pul the tensioner out..
