Make sure the starter one way clutch bearing is good because it looks as if it offsets your flywheel keyway. If the bearing is marginal the key might not be strong enough to hold the flywheel

hmmm interesting... im not completely convinced that its 100% great... there has to be a disadvantage, and im guessing that disadvantage is great.... go ahead and buy one and let us know how it runs... they sure are expensive for all the more they are....

one would think that if advancing the timing 4 degrees was going to make a change for the (overall) better then yamaha would have done it to begin with...

dont know untill you try tho i guess

This is for an ignition timing advance. A timing advance gives you roughly 3hp in the mid range and adds slightly to the low end as well, kills a bit of top end. They say that its only truly beneficial on a near stock setup though. I'd be interested in seeing the results of this mod if some one wants to do it.

one thing... if you do change to that key make sure you tighten the hell outta your flywheel, because it is going to be more prone to shearing the key...

i know this is a big mod on 5hp briggs racing go karts but i dont think you could get much different of a motor... im thinking some high octane would also be a must(not sure on that tho)

ok well right now i have to get my stator fixed i am sending it to a guy to day his shop name is Ricks motorsport electrics. Has anyone heard of him before?

Ricky Stator also sells an advanced time plate for $35 as another option. Don't have to worry about shearing your key that way.
