Ya i see the flywheel spinning on the crank. Id check the key
I thought the flywheel was turning in that video and the crank wasnt or was my eyes playing tricks on me
It looks like the starter is spining in the wrong direction. Remember, the crankshaft turns counter clockwise while running. Meaning it has to turn counter clockwise to even start. Now, the computer I'm on now isn't the best, so vid is hard to see, but I swear it looks like the the flywheel gear is spinning clockwise.
Cody, when the starter turns over, with battery power, what direction does it turn? It should turn counter clockwise like the crank. When the starter gear turns counter clockwise it makes the idler gears turn clockwise, when the idler gears turn clockwise it makes the flywheel gears will turn counter clockwise. If that flaywheel gear is turning clockwise IT WILL NOT TURN THE ENGINE OVER. Just double check that, because I wanna beat money on it that its turning the wrong way.
Hold that thought ill go look at my other motor after classes and take pics, it slipped my mind where the starter bearing is
the fly wheel gear is spinning but the rotor is not and (@gen1pat) it is spinning counter clockwise in the 2nd vid but as you can see the the starter clutch is not gripping strong enough to spin the rotor witch spins the crank
@codysisk13 this is the part you need im 99% sure have build 3 of these motors form empty case to running http://www.ebay.ca/itm/NEW-Yamaha-W...ccessories&hash=item4ab5eaec2b#ht_1031wt_1037
its just a roller bearing that grabs one way, the little bearings inside wear out and it just quits grabbingThanks bones. So if this is it, how would the starter clutch go bad in the first place? just wondering?
Look really good at the idler gear shaft. The very tip of it has very distinctive oil smudge on it. It looks to be turning to the left (counter clockwise) it needs to turn right (clockwise). When it turns right, it makes the crank turn left (the way the crank is supposed to turn). My dad was standing right next to me just now and he saw the same thing. I don't care if he and I are wrong. If we are no big deal, we must be high or something. Just look at that idler shaft again and confirm or denie that it is turning to the left.
