Warrior thumb throttle replacement

I recently purchased a thumb throttle and cable( only upper portion) I have a 1990 warrior are the cables the same for any year? The one I bought was for a 2000.
My carb has to extra cables that come out of it into a little box where supposively the them throttle cable hooks in and pulls these other 2 cable together. However after installing it seems that there is way to much slag in the cable from the thumb throttle and is not allowing carb to open.
If any one knows what is going on or what I need to do just get it running please help. I was replacing a twist throttle that was on it when bought it

I think 87 to 92 use a different style throttle cable.

^ exactly right. my 91 had it but i got rid of it with the new carb. did you buy that cable new? you will probably have to look around so see to find one or just buy a new one from motion pro or somebody. i would give you mine but it was also for a twist throttle.
