how fast is a warrior really? with an exhaust and jet? i always wondered how fast a warrior motor was. and compared to a 350 raptor?

IMO, a Raptor 350 would beat a Warrior. They make a few HP more, and are more aerodynamic. And lighter also. Top speed on my Raptor 350 in trail form was 68mph I believe, with a 120lb rider. JMHO.

A Rappy and Warrior are pretty equal and weigh about the same. Aero wouldnt really come into play either, the front fenders on a rappy act like a sail since they sit higher in the front than the back. Only way to make aerodynamics come into play would be a shell to surround rider and quad. Stock top speed is about 60, with mods and a gearing change it can go faster. Rider wieght does come into play to

120 lbs?? You need to start eating some meat son! Hahah

They say a rappy's are a bit fast but i call BS. Only thing thats diff SLIGHTLY is the cam profile I believe. Onll way to tell the real HP is to put a fully stock warrior and fully stock rappy on a dyno. Im sure yamaha up'd the hp numbers to make ppl think they changed the motor, in reality its identical... Thou the rappy's cam can not be swapped with a warrior cam, or vise versa.

My bud at the dealer says that the Raptor has a little more power than the Warrior. I think some is in the camshaft, but the biggest thing is the new exhaust design they used. With aftermarket pipe and other mods on both, I can't see the differences being all that much. I'll have to see if the FMF pipe helps on mine. Right now with even a crappy DG pipe, my Warrior seems to have a little more pep.

He also says the shocks are better. With Banshee shocks on the front of my Warrior and stock on my Raptor, the Raptor seems to ride smoother.

FALSE cams can be swapped but you will need to change the cam bearing that is in the head out to match the cam

1. cam profiles are a little different
2. the exhaust is much less restricted
3. the carb is a 37mm vacuum slide
4. airbox breather tube and box lid breath better

5. i have road both a stock raptor and warrior and the raptor is faster without a doubt Yamaha HP numbers are 17.2 warrior 22.9 raptor

They are higher than 17 & 19. Stock raptor 250 is like 16hp.

87, I'm 130lbs now. Was 120 when I did that. Try to stay light to go fast.

Ehh them hp numbers seem fair. Remember the 350 is not ment to be a power house like the ludacris 450's and big bore quads.

What ever you say hah. Gotta have SOME weight to push around the tank warrior chassis, not to mention that 700r you got...

You sure them cams can be changed duner? I thought dean said they were different?

they are. And unless you decide to swap the heads out with the cam, I don't see how they would work........or perhaps you can swap them, the differences are minor but I think its enough to not allow the change.

i did a ton of parts crossing to figure it out

the warrior cam has a hardened bearing service that is pressed on and hase a snap ring retainer for safety

the raptor has the bearing surface built onto the cam and it sues the same needle bearings as the warrior but the bearing by the gear has a alightly bigger ID

other that the heads are the same but the part numbers are 3 miles apart due to it changing machines ie warrior to raptor

oh ok. i was wondering. would putting weld cams in it with head porting and bigger valves with the timing process being done up it a bit? that stuff along with jetting and an exhaust?

so we talkin 70-75 area? maybe 80? cuz once i get all the exterior things done to my bike im finishing my mods up. im def getting my head ported and the bigger valves and the timing key. i already have it jetted and an exhaust and things like that. im trying to make this warrior worth my while and i have and am as we speak putting money into it. just seeing what results im going to get.

Making more hp doesnt mean more mph. Thats where gearing comes in. But the more power you make the easier it will power the more top speed gearing change.

Eh not 100% more power does help speed slightly by helping overcome driveline friction, weight and the slight wind resistance

Max RPM is still the limit there. Max RPM and gearing are still only going to go a certain speed. Wind or down hill my help some, but on average top speed would be the same.

The raptor still has the 36mm its just a BSR http://www.yamaha-motor.com/sport/products/modelspecs/400/0/specs.aspx just saying because I dont see how they could get so much difference in the power with almost identical motors
