is it possible to weld a tranny case?

the blaster i thinkin of getting has a chip missing out of the case that holds the shifter in there, is it possible to weld a piece back in there

it leaks a little oul out of it

yeah but with the case you got to make sure you've got the right Amperage, and wire speed or the weld will seperate from the case when it cool and you may have to do somemore griding.

It can be done -have a good welder do it.

I have an option for you -look for a complete lower end on ebay. Then you can get some of your money back by selling the parts you do not need or have a healthy supply of engine parts. I bet you can find one for $200. I got a complete Warrior engine for $300 because I needed a crank and jug. Sold the starter for $60. I am now happily sitting on a small stockpile of engine parts.

Ok.
1. Aluminum needs Tig. (before anyone gets nasty, you CAN MIG al. but you need too much funky ****)
2. Cases never weld right...the smallest contamination (oil, grease, dirt) and the weld WILL NOT STICK.
3.Aluminum welding is NOT easy...the difference between melting to fusing, and melting to melting away is under 400*....REALLY hard to get right. Plus, Al. does not change color before melting, so you HAVE to know your ****.

Really, finding another case on fleabay is the better route.

or become friends with a welder and feed him beer and hotwings... thats what i did when i found somthing that i could not weld :)

oh shut up, you dont know how good or bad i am at welding....nah with this i would not do it myself...not i just need to find someone that is amasing at welding...i know, ill ask the OCC guys

you can buy anything for cheap, its just how long you want it to last and how good of quality you want. ::)

whell ill see how much cash i have after i buy it.....how hard is it to split the cases and put i whole new one on?

yea i wouldnt even attempt mig welding al, definately tig plus a couple years of experience, tig really is an art and is not as easy as mig or stick to pick up

If it is just like a Warrior --pull the motor, then topend. The flywheel is the only issue on a Warrior --needs the correct puller. You can eff it up using the wrong one. I took mine to the dealer and they popped it off for $15. Lay the engine on the clutch side when splitting or a few parts will fall out.

Have a manual with you, your bound to have at least one "whats this" or "where did this come from"

When i first started tig welding i thought it was going to be the hardest thing on the planet but once i got going to it was pretty easy
