whell that will just be a project if i want to hybrid it......im going to buy a new case but i might also hybrid it at some point in its life time

[quote:vd0islgd]yea i wouldnt even attempt mig welding al, definately tig plus a couple years of experience, tig really is an art and is not as easy as mig or stick to pick up
When i first started tig welding i thought it was going to be the hardest thing on the planet but once i got going to it was pretty easy[/quote:vd0islgd]
yea it wasn't bad until hacked my finger up on the hydraulic sheer in welding and had to get seven stiches, and i wasn't able to weld nemore (doctors orders)

BTW, anyone that tells you that he can get a welder that'll do aluminum for 200 bucks is smoking crack.

I have a Hobart 180 22V machine that was 500 bucks USED, BEFORE tank, and flowmeter, and I'll need about another 400-600 before I could even THINK of welding ALuminum.

I'd need a spoolgun, Trimix gas(another tank rental fee) and lots o' time to practice.....and with 180 amps, I'd only be able to do around 1/8" Al.

Tig?

About 1200 to walk in the door.

i didnt say it was for aluminum......i dont know about you guys but i can get one for about 250 but then i need the other crap.....sure its cheap but it will work

If by "work" you mean piss you off, then yes, it'll "work"

A ****** welder is just that. a ****** welder. ANY wire feeder under 500 bucks is chinese crap, that usually is not worth the packaging it's shipped in.

Sure, it'll lay a bead...but only for 1 min, or less, before overheating.

The only exception is a Lincoln Tombstone welder, and that's stick only.....Not much use on a quad where you deal with 1/16" or less thickness.

Well as a welder by trade for over 10 yrs i will tell you will not be able to weld al it requires a high freq tig rig ,argon gas and more practice then you will have time for it took me around 2 yrs to be able to weld o al it is the hardest alloy on the damn planet to weld lol .Buy a new case save yourself a heartache
