I was tearing the carb out today and i saw this needle with a little hole in it. i took the float bowl off and there was a screw that turned that needle. now im afraid i messed somethin up. what way should the little hole face? or doesnt it matter

thats the where the extra fuel comes out of when the accelerator plunger is depressed. the hole needs to be facing into the carb and you should be good.

it will shoot a shot of gas into the engine when you punch it really fast.

so just make sure it is facing inwards towards the inside of the carb correct? thanks guys

Also what spring do you replace for better throttle response? is it in the bowl or on the top part of the carb?

Just gonna keep it in one post

what does that little rod suppose to do? i assume its suppose to move up and down when the carb is full but it didnt seem to move? i worked it back and forth with my fingers and now it movies with the carb but what does this do? could it of caused problems?

thats the actual accelerator plunger that feeds the needle you were concerened about. it looks like the plunger is sticking. replace the spring in the float boal with one from a clicky pen and it should be good. if you read around youll find that its a common problem.

You might have to shave some of the gasket off around that area too. (be very careful and shave just a small amount. The grooves in the rod get caught up on the gasket if it all doesn't seat right.

Would this cause my previous problems of backfiring and my quad stalling and acting like it was flooded?

Ohh haha well do you think now that the plunger thing is unstudied it will solve my quad issues of it stalling and acting like it is flooded and won't start until I let it sit for a while?

I would have to venture a guess and say YES 100% it will fix that issue! I had the same problem and was skeptical this was my issue, with all the carbs ive worked on in my life, no stupid accel pumps, but when i finished fixing mine it was a total diff. machine, i couldn't even get my tires to spin when it was not working now it rips wheelies like its nobody's business....
