Im replying but no updates. It looks just like it did in the pics. To many other projects and I dont ride anymore. I think if I did ride more I might finish it - on that note anyone in ne georgia wanna go ride sometime? The almost finished one was gonna be used as a mold to try and make more that were a bit lighter and better made.
Anyways heres all the pics I could come up with of it if anyone cares:
I bought a new hood and covered the inside with masking tape to cover the vents and key hole:
Then covered that in tin foil. For the most part the fiber glass will not stick to the foil. Cut out my fiber glass. Coated the hood in resin. then layed the pieces of cut fiber glass mat in. Worked out the air bubbles with a needle and popsickle stick. No pics of this step but I cam up with this:
This is after its trimmed and cleaned up. You can see bit of the foil stuck to it. Doesnt matter as it was gonna be painted anyways.
Then did the same thing to this hood:
Its Maier P/N 50968 for a 250r. Then grafted the two together. No pics of this step. I came up with this:
The black lines are where I had to fill in the gaps between the two parts. Its got thicker mat on the insde to beef it up a bit. This also made it heavier. All the fiber glass materials are the cheap stuff from the auto parts store(bondo brand I think). No vacuum bags setup or anything fancy. Kind of crude and basic but it worked. Sorry for the lack of pics through out the process and this lousy write up it the best I can do.
