K well my electical is fucked up i think. I keep blowing solenoids. It started a couple weeks ago when i go riding in the snow. Like it happens right after i start the bike and its still cold then it stalls out. When i go to restart it, the solenoid is bad. Or at least its not working. Well the last time this happend a couple weeks ago the fuse and the solenoid blew at the same time so i replace both of them and it started right up. Well i was in a rush today and i start it up then it stalled and now it doing the same thing. The solenoid just makes one click and thats it when i press the start button. This is exactly what the other one did before i replaced it.....is the solendoid broken? or is it just wet or something? I thought when a solenoid gos bad it just doesnt do anything no clicking or anything.

please help so i dont have problems at my race. :p

sounds like a bad/loose connection somewhere. Make sure and don't put a bigger fuse in otherwise **** will start on fire. Also maybe something is shorting to ground like one of the wires is touching the frame.

hey dude i would start with or near anything you have worked on or added lately could be as simple as a lose ground. the fuse should be a 15 amp never go bigger its just trouble waiting to happen when ya do that.

well i tested both solenoids and they both do the same thing on a working warrior, They just make one click and thats it.

This time the fuse didnt blow just the solenoid.

I think the fuse blew last time becuase of the lighting system i had hooked up on it.

The fuse i have in right now is a 14.

I really need to know whats wrong with this and i dont really have the time to check all the wiring. Im rebuilding my friends 400ex right now which has taken up all the time ive had to spend on my warrior. I also have to fix my other warrior by sunday night to sell it. Im freaking packed with work!!!

I wish someone knew what was up with my solenoids blowing!!!!

The solenoid basically makes the starter turn over by jumping the two termails together by the igntion switch. Pretty freaking easy.
My best guess is your starter is bad, shorted out and taking the solenoid out because to large of a fuse.
There is really no way for the solenoid to really just go bad other then contacts inside worn or bad. This is why you jump accross them to test it. You could have a bad ground and if it wasn't hooked up on the other side of the switching circuit on the solenoid then you would have no starting action.. but the solenoid wouldn't click when pressing the ignition button.. . and you are saying it does.
So you've basically lost me. I wish you the best of luck as there is really no reason for the solenoid just to go bad.. other then maybe a short to ground and you holding the starter button or the solenoid getting stuck on and burning the contacts, and really the fuse would blow before this should ever happen.

Well idk i havent tryed bypassing it yet so when i go down there to work on that 400ex ill try that. But i just got a new solenoid in the mail today so hopefully this one wont break.

Also i have noticed my start button sticking in some times so that might of actualy fried it but idk becuase you say the fuse would blow before it did that but it didnt this time.

So if the starter button is sticking it will cause my solenoid to burn up? Becuase i noticed it sticking a couple times before.

The fuse didnt blow this time. It only blew last time when i had my goofy light set up on.

Well i went down to work on it and i tryed to bypass the solenoid and it works on the bypass but it just wouldnt start. It would crank and crank but no start. Well i checked the spark and there was nothing. So im basicly lost. Idk how my solenoid went bad and now i dont have spark. Jason you have to know whats up with this, your the electronic wiz around here haha. Im starting to think i did actualy burn out some wires. Well i have a whole nother wiring harness for my quad that i can try throwing on but i just dont have the time right now. Maybe tomarrow but i would still like to know whats wrong with it if anybody has ever had this problem.

did you have the switch to run and everything turned on for it to start and get spark? If you just jump the solenoid the only thing you are checking is the wiring to the starter from the battery and to see if the solenoid is/or is not working.
If your starter button sticks on then it could cause the solenoid to burn up quicker but you should hear the starter run.. the starter would have to run for a long time.
Basically if you want me to help your going to have to give me some more info otherwise I'm just taking guesses. I think it's a waste of time to replace the harness not unless it's been hacked appart.

Yes i had everything turned on. The key, the start switch onto run, and my kill switch put in. If i didnt bypass it and just pressed the start button it would make on click out of the solenoid and thats it. I hooked this solenoid up to my friends warrior and it did the same thing. And for some reason it now has no spark.

Well i just replaced the whole wring harness and put a new solenoid on it and it worked fine so i think i had some wires get fried up in my other harnes. But it doeant matter, i got to part out the warrior. Im getting a new toy, putting a downpayment on it today or tomorrow, when ever i get to talk to the guy again.
