Ok, I've been riding my 350 bone stock for a while and I'm lookin to upgrade a bit. However, I'm not sure where to start on it. I ride mostly trails and backroads. Not lookin to go super crazy but I want it to look, handle, run better. Don't have a ton of $ but I don't mind putting some coin down either. What are the mods/ upgrades that are the best to start off? Thanks in advance for the advice

Flipping you rims front and rear will give it some more width, and make it handle better. You will have to dismount the front tires from the rim, install a valve stem backwards, and drill a new hole on the opposite side of the original, and install a stem there. Upgrading the shocks is the best thing you can do, outside of extended a arms. Many like the 2001 raptor rear shock, but, the banshee rear feels awesome to me, and the chain wont ride harder on the lower roller like the raptor shock will make it. You will have to heat up and "dent" the air box for the rezzie on the banshee shock to clear, but, that's easy. Banshee front shocks can be swapped in as well, unless you want to spend atleast 400-425 on some works at steelers. I have them as well, and like them A LOT. Only cheap after market front shocks you will find are from progessive suspension. They go for 225ish? Have not used them on a warrior, but we have them on my dad's trx300 4x4 (no others are made for the old girl) and he loves em. Don't know how they are for the warrior. That pretty much covers the suspension dept. You can/should upgrade the tie rods with a 12mm HD kit, from moose, or all balls. Power wise, better intake setup, a good slip on muffler, or maybe a complete system, rejet it, and you will see a nice power increase. Take and put a spring from a clicker pen in place of the stock accel pump spring, and put a valve stem cap on the top of the accel pump rod. That cuts the space between the rod and carm down to a few thousandths of an inch. Doing those two things will make the throttle responce better. Other than that simple stuff, you start getting into higher comp pistons, cams, and the like. A stage 1 or 2 hotcam can be used with stock springs, so that is a simple install. Do the vito's +4 key, that is easy, and you only need a new stator cover gasket and a flywheel puller to do it.

Wow, thanks! As for better intake set up, like better filter and open box lid? What year banshee shocks will fit? I have the knowledge to do pistons etc but not sure I want to take it that far yet. I do like the accel pump mod though!

Yeah a better filter and an open lid will do wonders. There are bolt on adapter kits available to eliminate the lid. Use and outerwears cover to aid in filtration. Any year shee shocks will work.

Ok I think ill start with the filter set up and possibly a pipe set up and jetting. Gonna look for some good used shee shocks too. I want to paint some stuff on it as well. Powder coat is to much $. Any idea of a good paint that will hold up well?

Look at what you want to improve. Then make a list that lists the most important top to bottom. Otherwise you get like me and try to change everything at once, and there seems to be no end. Rusted and rounded bolts seemed to abound on mine. PB Blaster is your friend. A modified or aftermarket exhaust and jets would probably be my start. From there I'd go to suspension. If you want to build the engine, you should be good with wrenches and may do just as well trading up to a bigger ride. The satisfaction of making it better is priceless but it will cost you both time and money.

I have no issues with the wrenching part, I'm an ex mechanic so no issues there. I find it is sometimes more fun workin on and improving stuff than riding! I am afraid of trying to do everything at once and getting in to deep. I think I want to keep the warpig rather than going to a bigger ride. I just kinda dig being the "underdog" of the guys I ride with for some reason.

And that ^, ladies and gents, is why we own these bikes.

Thanks! Sorry about your mom its always hard to lose someone like that. It will get better!

Any one know if YFZ450 shocks can be made to fit? I might have a line on a full set for next to nothing.

Never mind, I stopped being lazy and looked around here for info. Found a thread about the adapter for the fronts. Not sure about the rear though??? Anyone run them?

the rear is way to long for the warrior and for the front you could go with the bracket but this increases shock angel .... hatfeld on here knows how the shorten them to work right

I would love to run YFZs on the front. I would be willing to Fab new mounts or whatever it takes. I don't want to use the bolt on brackets though. That's not custom enough for me.
If I could get a line on a set maybe trade something or what ever. I would love to try. As some guys know on here I love a challenge.

I am pretty sure you would have major problems trying to make the rear YFZ work.

I was thinking of fabing up new mounts for the fronts. Wouldn't be all that hard. Just cut off the old ones and make some longer ones. I don't think I want to shorten them due to lack of travel. If I run the fronts should I run a shee rear?
