Hey, I googled a 83mm Warrior piston & found the WB piece for a steal. Anybody ever run these? Arias has built good auto race pistons over the years so I figure these are prolly ok. I wanted JE but this deal seems good & I'm on a budget. I think I'm gonna go 10.5, that's what they advertise for this piston. Gonna try to get by with a single head gasket shim, that should get me over 11.1. Anybody know roughly what the deck clearance is? Also considering removing the gasket between the jug & case & using Hondabond there but I wanna make sure my quench is close.

We used Arias pistons in some automotive race engines in the past. Had some trouble with some of their super light weight pistons cracking in the pin/skirt area after a certain number of races. Never had a failure due to it, but these engines are torn down and freshened regularly and everything checked for cracks. Make sure you find out if there are any reviews of the piston to see if they have ever had that issue.

They may not be failure prone, but just wanted to let you know about what we saw on the automotive side so you could look into it further.

On 2nd thought, what about replacement rings? Im a lil sketchy about the lack of availability for these things. I don't even know if Arias still makes the piston. Hell, maybe it's worth the gamble, it's like half the price of a JE & if it screws up I'll prolly bore it then & go with the JE366.

I am pretty sure that White Brothers got bought out by Vance & Hines.

That's true, wb was bought by v&h. Idk what they've kept or let go since the takeover i really don't want a product that I can't service:(

I checked Vance & Hines out all they have for Yamaha is yfz450 and yz250 I think.

That totally sucks man! Why the hell would you purchase a company (that you had no direct competition with) if you had no intentions of utilizing the brand! I don't get it, oh well, whatever. I guess that explains why the cat on ebay is selling those piston kits so cheap, he prolly bought a bunch of stock from somewhere & the piston isn't being manufactured anymore so it's a gamble to buy one. I'm up in the air man, I like the price & it may not ever have a problem till I wear it out. I wish some guys here that have/had the Arias piston would chime in.

The piston actually looks pretty good. Pretty sure Arias is still in business, but we haven't bought anything from them for quite some time. We started buying most of the race pistons for automotive engines from Diamond pistons. They are heavier, but never break like the Arias ones did. Contact Arias and see if they will give you any info as far as rings. I'd be interested to see the bottom side of the piston, but I bet it would be fine.

normally if something screws in the top end down the road you have to bore it and the only piston ive ever heard of coming apart in a warrior is namura those wont stay if you ride it hard but i say do it if its that much cheaper and no one has ever broke one then go for it and when it wears out later on you can je 366 it!

Might get lucky and they may use the same ring combo as JE or Wiseco. I am sure they offer replacement rings as well. I noticed on their site they have a motorcycle section. I bet rings will be available either way.
