finally tracked down my problem with the plug not firing, was a wire in the wiring harness broken :
NOW.. it fires, but wont crank, it acts like the timing is off, pops and runs aslong as you hold the starter and backfires, we have set the timing many times like the book says, new flywheel and key to make sure it wasnt off, checked the valves numerous times, the only thing i can see that isnt right is the cam.. its impossible to get it exactly on the T like the book says, it has alot of play in it, but.. you can get it dead on the F, but the book says T even though the piston is at TDC on both :-/
the head is different on this bike, the guy i got it from replaced it... would it coming from a different year make a difference? could the timing chain be wrong or stretched?
either way, according to the book, the timing is right, or as close as it can get to right on the cam, but it still acts like the timing is way off :-X
