Hey guys I'm looking for a stage 2 hotcam for my warrior. I currently have the stage 1 and I do like it but would like a bit more duration so I think i would like the stage 2. Let me know if you have one for sale. thanks

You should run upgraded valve springs with the stage 2
There I fixed it! Lol

why is that? They have the same lift as the stage 1. It's just a longer duration.

You'll get valve float and loose power because the valves won't be able to close themselves fast enough.
I remember reading this being an issue before

That's only happened on one bike that I have ever heard of running a stage 2 and it was a stroker motor. I wouldn't worry about it. Just mo though.

Oh well if I need springs with the stage 2 hotcam that's no big deal. I'm still wanting the stage 2 if I can find one. I was thinking of a web but I have always used Hotcams in all my machines with great luck so i prefer to stick with that.

If your going to do springs any way there are members here that will tell you to go with the web over the hc. I can say I would agree.... I was talking with Mickey Dunlap and he made a great point, any cam you can run with stock springs how much difference is it really making?

I do agree with you but I think on some cams the lobe is mild enough that the stock springs will be ok. That being said on a very high rpm engine yes you would need stronger springs to keep the valves under control. I don't feel the warrior engine is a real high winder compared to alot of engines. I run the old style hotcams in my big bore kfx and turn it to the limiter at over 10k and never have had a float problem. My springs are just the stock DRZ double springs. I'm not against Web cams but looking at what they have I just don't know what to get. The .390 cam they list everybody says it's about like my current stage 1 hot cam and the 430 cam I hear people say it kills the torque really bad. It just seemed that the stage 2 hotcam would get me kinda what I am wanting.

From my research, I believe the web has more duration than the hotcams with the same lift. Why do you want more duration? Do you want to move your powerband up more in the rpm range? I highly recommend getting the web over a hotcam, the quality is way better.

yes I want to move the power up a little higher but not so far that I kill my bottom end. Why does everybody hate the Hotcams? I have ran then for years and have never had any problems. I think they are a good reliable cam.

I don't hate the hc at all. I run a stage one in my bike right now that I got a smoking deal on. But after I rebuild my head and get a port and polish I would be dumb to run that cam with the amount of work that's in the motor. It's just a very basic "performance" cam. Don't get me wrong I love the hc1 on a stock head and has pretty good bottom end.
