Wth! I keep seeing piston "kits" with no rings!

I'm prolly gonna go 366 but I keep seeing piston kits with no rings, that pisses me off, how the hell are ya gonna offer a "kit" with no rings? Even Vito's lists their "kit" with the piston, pin, clips & gaskets with no RINGS, sheesh! I guess I'm just getting frustrated! I see some kits on ebay for like $275 but I hardly see where a set of rings added to the kit constitutes an additional $100! What am I missing here?
 
Yupp, JE does ship with rings unless you request otherwise. Some guys just like the option to run a different brand of rings. I dunno why but the just do. The engine guy I visit from time to time has a whole catalog of just different ring brands and sizes. I had to order a new set for my piston as it was milled down from 85 to 84.5 and the rings I got with it were 85. (weirdness)
 
i know with the work i have done i couldn't burn AV100. i dunno what your planning to run, but i'm just saying.
 
Plans are a 12.1:1 366, Megacycle .450, ported head, megacycle adjustable cam gear, Vito's +4 timing key, kibblewhite spring kit, new DID chain & a FCR carb, I think I'm gonna go ahead with a 39mm FCR, my next build will prolly be a stroker or a 400 big bore so I'll be ale to use the carb.
 
Ya race fuel will solve it. 11:1 will probably be fine but 11.5:1 will bw cuttin it close. Pretty much advancing the timing is the same as raising compression.
 
I'm already planning for a better fuel, the combustion chamber is polished nicely as well to help prevent pd. Advancing ignition timing doesn't "raise" compression but I understand what you're saying. It starts the burn process in the chamber sooner & changes cylinder pressure.
