I have a 97 yamaha warrior the drops out of 2nd and 3rd gear, when I can get it in to second gear I let off the gass and then gun it again and it drops down like its in nurtral, it's easyer to get it in to 3rd but the same thing happens but not as often, I know that there is a star shaped thing on the end of the shift drum that can get sloppy and then it makes it hard to get it in gear but would it make it drop out of only 2 gears not all of them

Id first suggest you check your clutch cable adjustments and then check your reverse lever adjustments as well. If those are to tight, it will pop out because it technically isn't seating in all the way.

Yes but if it's tonight why would it only do it in first and second

Just things I'd check. Its extremely rare for a shift drum to get warn out to where its an issue.

Thanks for all the help I will check it out after a bit and let you know
