Yamaha warrior help!! Bike only goes into 3 gears

Hi everyone i new to this and don't know if I'm posting in the right place but I have a 03 warrior that just recently went out on me my gf is a new rider and she got stuck on a hill and was reving the hell out of the bike and now when I put it into first and release the clutch it stayed on and didn't move in goes into first second and third but not fourth are fifth any idea? I have open up the case and drained the oil and it smelt really bad ! The oil filter had lots of black debre I thought it was the clutch so I bought a new one and installed it but have not put the oil back into it because the gears are still the same can someone please help !!!

sounds like it needs a new clutch. will it not move at all?

I put in the new clutch the old one was pretty bad but the shifter still only goes one down and two up ? I haven't filled it back up with oil yet beacause it should cycle thru all the gears right?

I'm just using my hand on the foot shifter to go thru the gears

you probabaly just need a new clutch. rock the quad back and forth when yu shift threw the gears. it will work
