YFM350ERT starting problem

Bike starts fine on pull start, doesn't start on the electric start. Winds over ok just doesn't start. Bike shop has suggested it is the generator at fault. Any thoughts?

yeah it could be the generator (stator)... does it have spark at all when you hit the start button?
