Banshee shocks are 14.5 actually my brother has a banshee
And I was told by the guy at Larry's yamaha I can just upgrade the ball joints and I'll be fine

I have a banshee shock in my hand, with a measuring tape. It is 14.75" eye to eye.

Yes if you relocate the shock mounts then you should be fine. If you do that cycle the suspension so you dont run into any issues.

With the shocks off you will be able to move the suspension through its travel, seeing where the limiting points are at bump and droop. To do this with a shock you will need to remove the coil and cycle the suspension to find out where the shock needs to be mounted at bump and droop. Since you'd be moving the upper mount , bolt the shock to the lower arm then do as i said. This is just a breif disription of what to do

If you don't have the capabilitys to weld well don't mess with the shock mounts.
I wouldn't want one breaking on a landing.
Thorrider you shouldn't need to cycle the suspension like you are saying because you are not messing with the ball joint angles. They shouldn't bind.

To find the correct shock placement yes you do need to cycle the suspension. If you dont you can have it bump or droop past its limits then you run into problems, like balljoint failure. Ive built a few class5 cars and cycled all the suspension. Even when we used the same size shocks on each car we still cycled the suspension for the correct placement

Well my dad is a steel fabricator he has built everything from semi cabs to the giant steel molds for skate parks! Anything I need welded he can do it and make it hold lol

You should be good then.
I know what you mean thorrider, but the first gen bikes have enough up travel without the shocks on that it should be fine IMO.
If you have the means to take the springs off the banshee shocks and cycle it, then by all means do it.
I'm assuming you don't though.

Do not buy them shocks, Here at our local indoor track a feller about got totaled because of them, He made it 3 times around thetrack and on the back section of whoops it snapped.
