you already have a new coil and after hearing bad things from deerman about the rm cdi I personlly wont use one

It's already bored .40 over has a degree key, fmf titanium exhaust, k and n kit, jetted.

Seems like you got a nice running bike when it starts firing

Elwood- granted its hit and miss on getting a good one but when you get a good one you better hold onto your briches

well I orderd the $225 combo kit and it came yesterday and none of it's right doesn't match up to my harness at all they only thing I can think of is my frame is a 94 and the wiring harness is another year here are some pictures let me know what you think. Notice how my old one had two coils, the new one only comes with one did they phase out the need for two or what because all the pictures I see on there website only show 1 coil coming with a new stator.

After a little research on Rmstators site. Your harness is an earlier harness, Im still working on the exact year range. But the early warriors had 2 pickup coils.

Wheres your cdi located?

Well I cant find a good pic of a for sure stator, but heres a way to determine.
CDI located infront of the motor is definatley an 87

Not 100% sure on 88 and 89 but I think they relocated the cdi some where in there to the rear by the rectifier. Hopefully an first gen guy will chime in for sure.

yeah I think 1998yamahawarrior is right that it's a earlier year but my frame is definitaly 94. my cdi is in the front my connector is letter A on ricky stator they sent me a letter C from rmstator which is for a 94. My friend has letter B stator which is the same as mine but instead of 4 wires it has 3 and it has 2 coils what year is it from.

found this website it was really helpful I guess I have an 87 harness. I think my friend has an 88-89

I think I'm going to look on ebay and just buy a harness to match my cdi and stator that I got so I don't have to ship it back. Also Rmstator doesn't offer the deal I got for the 87 warrior and they don't sell a cdi for it eaither let alone a high performance one at least I couldn't find it on there new site which I don't like. So I think I'll keep the high performance one and make it work what do you guys think.

Once you just siad front there I was like thats an 87 harness. The one I parted out in the spring was an 87. If your going to switch the harness to the 94 your going to need a flywheel also that year. The points that the pickup coil reads on it is different because of it only having 1.

Hes parting a 93 out so he just may have everything you need to switch your harness: http://www.yfm350.com/forums/showthread.php?t=23895

yeah i posted a reply to that, also i got my flywheel used off ebay now that you say that i better check to see what year it came from is there any way to tell what year it is. I had no idea they were different but I guess it makes sense. maybe I already have a 90-95 one. Do all the different year stators have different flywheels? oh and I was just looking at your oil cooler mods and you do nice work I'll have to order one of those then.

ok did some checking on bike bandit looking at there parts diagrams and found that years 90-01 use the same flywheel. now question is I can't remember where I got the flywheel from if it was on the bottom end i bought off ebay or if i got it from my friend i can't remember. the bottom end was an 02 so I would be screwed if it came from there. I'll have to ask my friend. Ok I got to get some sleep gotta love night shift.

Okay...heres my stator story...

97 warrior, stator went,so picked up a new one from RMStator....

In the meantime,I read a few posts on here about stators, and one I read, the OP had a new one,no spark, changed wires in plug around...had spark...

So when my new stator arrived,I noticed when connected to the warrior harness, the green\brown wires in the one plug matched up when connected, but the red\white wires in the other plug, did not...red went to white after the plug, white went to red....so thought hey mine has the same prob...so before I even tried to start,I switched the wires around in the plug,so they matched...

Bad idea....LOL...

When I would first turn the key on,and try to start,I would get one spark, then nothing....after screwing around for an hour testing other stuff, thinking maybe it wasnt the stator after all,I decided to switch the wires back in the plug,so the colors didnt match after being connected....and the girl fired right up..!!...LOL...should have left it alone..

So.....I guess its safe to say not all aftermarket wires are going to match up color wise every time...LOL

But if you had one spark at first....worth a try....

yeah I did get that 1 lone spark only one time but I can't explain it. That was with the original cdi that came on the frame and a stator that I had bought off ebay for $15. Which turned out to be the right color code for my year harness. Looking back I didn't know then, they were different so that was one heck of a crap shoot. There is another problem though with that setup. I also ordered a flywheel off ebay and don't remember the year of it, knowing now they are different if I had an 87 harness and stator I would need an 87-89 flywheel. Chances are I probably had the flywheel that works from 90-01 in it that's why it wouldn't spark in the first place and all I needed was a flywheel. Too late though I already have well over $300 in it and counting trying to fix the no spark issue.

when I got my stator from rm there was a paper in there that said DO NOT change the wires, they don't match factory color but it is correct

Man am I glad i found this thread, my bro's 89 Warrior is having this exact same issue, I'm going to try some of the suggestions here and see what i come up with, I'll let you all know.

Thanks!
