yeah I took them off. but now i have yet another part of this. I big problem just got worse. two steps forward three steps back. I got it running it was idleing pretty smooth for about 45 seconds, then it dies. it starts right back up and same thing. i realize it is a bit cold so I did this maybe 5 times, then I hit the gas a little and black smoke came out the exhaust and it was really wet and oily. Then all of a sudden there is a snapping noise, not a knock, and then the motor locks up. I can put a ratchet on the crank bolt and it frees up, but if feels a little sloppy now. Now everytime it starts it runs smooth for maybe 15 seconds then the snapping noise starts and it locks up again. When it is running it is not knocking at all, it runs smooth till the snapping starts. so what are your ideas now, crank bearings shot? it only smoked that one time and thats it. I got terrible bad luck.

oh I also took off the stator side and verified that the one way bearing is not locked up, the starter is not turning while running.

Just figured I would share that I took the cylinder and head off of my motor and the rod bearing is in pieces. there is tons of slop and can see the roller bearing are crooked and stuff. that's probably what was causing it to sorta lock up, i'm amazed that it never really sounded like a knock to me, it was too high pitched. So now I am looking for a good bottom end if anybody has one to sell for a fair price let me know.
