Has anyone other then me had a problem with the carb joint on their warrior? 3 times I have replaced the joint between the head and the carb with brand new yamaha factory joints. And three times now they have ripped in the center. The tear is like a stress tear. Like if you cut your finger and then spread it open to see how deep it is. My wife has a warrior as well and hers does not suffer from this issue. Any ideas on how to fix this problem would be great.

Three times now? yeash......you either have something way outta whack (carb not lining up, carb shake, Mis alignment) or keep buying crappy stressed used carb boots?

the carb boots are brand new from factory...definitely something is outta whack, I just cant understand it..its not shaking, ...someone mentioned backfiring thru the carb? I have no idea...

That certainly wouldn't help, do a compression test to see if your valves are going bad. You might have a poorly seated intake valve. This would be a good time to convince the mrs that it's a good time to buy a edelbrock. ;)

this is kind of dumb, but are you putting the joint on the right way? it can be put on upside down which will put stress on it very bad and it will rip very quick.

Did you check the motor mounts? If the engine is moving around it's going to be putting all kinds of stress on that manifold. It's not uncommon for the lower mounting bolts to loosen up, causing the upper mount to break.

Also, like 91warrior just mentioned, it is possible to install it upside down which will put undue stress on it. If I remember correctly the top of the manifold has a reinfoced bridge, and an arrow to indicate that it is the top side.

Other than that, i can't see what would be causing it unless you're slamming the pieces together, if you're twisting it and forcing it when you put everything together that could be the culprit. I'm sure you won't be doing that though, by now you realize that the manifold is weak.

The manifold just isn't the strongest design, it's aluminum throughout except right in the center part which creates a pinch point where all the stress gets focused. I went through a couple on my warrior. The first one was the original one so that wasn't a surprise, but the second one only lasted a couple months so I think that was a faulty part, it also wasn't an orignal yamaha part.
