k i got the 397 kit in and the guy that ordered it for which i no longer talk to said that my carb would need some work, so anybody have any clues 2 wat i can do 4 it to run right. i got a 65 pilot and 165 main with the needle lifted up as far as it will go.

Yes the butter fly is needed that's part of the choke. Aqnd the pilot jet may be stoped up too that will cause it to die at idle

i have a keihin pwk 36mm carb off a dirtbike would that b better 2 stick on than the stock carb or would it just make my trouble worse

No the butterfly is not part of the choke dude. Both the butterfly and slide move together for fuel enrichment under normal throttle conditions.

To lean or to rich on the idle circuit will cause the engine not to want to run at idle.

Actually it dose those little orfaces around the butterrfly create a low preasure zone inside those hols with alow it to ilpdle and when the choke is engaged it alows more fuel to flow through those orfaces then the pilot jet will flow therfor alowing more fuel o go into the motor for cold starts

i need to know if the keihin pwk36 will work, its off a dirtbike but thats the only other carb i got layin around. i dont wanna make matters worse

i got to figure something out my plug is as black as night, it wont idle, when i hold the throtle 2 keep it idle it smokes and then when i hit the gas black smoke, but no smke while im riding. do u think if i bored the stock carb bigger it would help, but i also have a stock cam would that cause it to load up with the stroker kit

The black smoke normally means eather bad fuel quality or poor jetting what type of gas you running? Low mid or high octain?

well i ported my carb bigger and it seemed like it helped but all in all my old motor seems like it ran better, but i think i need a bigger cam 2 feel the whole potential of the stroker motor.

mine is only ran a 155 main and 50 pilot with a stage 1 cam and it is still a little rich at WOT

yea but wat im thinkin is with the stock cam its buildin up 2, figure the higher the lift the more gets in and out

i seen proxracer8001 has the same kit i wrote him but i dont think hes been on for a while 2 c wat jets and carb hes runnin. got any other carb mods that i could try i did the accel pump mod, is there any more
