Not yet, have to wait until tomorrow. I am just working on a porch right now. But thanks for the advice. That will save work and possibly a trip to a machine shop.

I'm originally from ohio. Isn't Akron sorta flat? I grew up riding in the abandoned strip mines in southeast ohio. Wayne national forest near Nelsonville off of st rt 33 is a good ride and the perry state forest is good. Richland furnace is fun but there is an area you aren't supposed to go to anymore. Most of my old spots were mysteriously bought up by private owners.

Exactly. And by looking at it; it looks good. Not a lot of carbon build up. Someone rebuilt the top end; probably recently

Engine running

So I got it back together and running. Yes it had been rebuilt recently, but was not assembled correctly. Pieces were missing in the clutch assembly, bolts were loose, and it was a guessing game of what could be wrong. It turns out the intake valve was bent somehow. I put it all back together and hoped for the best and it runs now. I guess the valve was the problem, but I was concerned about how it got bent. I am thinking the engine was assembled and turned over out of time and it interfered with the piston. Anyway it runs now. Also I want to point out that a proper work area and good lighting is crucial to doing good work. I wasted a lot of time and extra work because of lighting in this case when I could not see the bent valve until I was in sunlight.
Now I am going to move this into the chassis and suspension section as I am having to go through loose bolts, wrong bolts and a rear end that is clearly not right. So far I have been surfing the forum for pics or even the service manual. As usual right when I got to the section of chasis and suspension that I need the manual quits working.

I think I posted already that the cam is stock. I've been out of town awhile and now am back to get this warrior in shape. I found a huge oil leak, the seal had been forgotten on the stator. I found one in the parts, as well as a good intake valve, that I already bought a new one for.
It seems I have bad bearing in the front wheels , or is there a spacer missing? The A arms seem really loose also.
The gasket must have gotten torn on the stator cover as well, it seems to sweat oil a little out the top. Also it seems to smoke to much around the jug, but the valve covers and cam cover are not leaking. Perhaps the exhaust donut is no good or I need to tighten the exhaust more.
I have some grounding issues it seems, they really just started when I tried to wire in the reverse light into the lighting. It looked like the reverse light on the dash was controlled by a contact made in the reverse lever assembly. So I ran a ground to it from the new back up light. It didn't work, then it wouldn't start without it, all sorts of things were working then not working , then it wouldn't start at all until I finally pulled the clutch in. Then the neutral light stopped working unless the headlights were on. Now it went back to normal and my back-up light will have it's own manual switch.
It runs good except for fast acceleration from idle. It seems the carb may need adjustment. The carb stopped leaking out the bottom by the way. When I had it disassembled the accelerator pump was working. It will completely bogg down and quit if I just punch it. At higher Rpm's it takes it though. Maybe to much gas, but wouldn't it eventually take the gas?
