I believe you should not turn the dip stick on the threads and just dip it... that would explain why it was low on oil.
 
but if i turned them in wouldnt it be going deeper in making it actually reading to much???
 
If you checked it with the stick threaded in, and then they checked it without threading it in, Then that's why they said it was low. Cause it is!

And yes like someone else pointed out. That's the cylinder base gasket that is leaking. The head gasket is between the head and the top of the cylnder. (2 fins under the cam cover)
 
thanks cliff for the clear up...so then when checking the oil i shouldnt thread it in right??
