See HAULER you just calmed me a bit when you said about the clutch cover burning your hand, thats what got thinking about this in the first place, I've never owned a machince that i couldnt atleast hold my hand on the cover for a bit. So its just new to me. Now about the tick/knock i guess i'll check the valves tomorrow.

If i'm not mistaken i thought some one on the forum has or will make the cover for you for a reasonable price.

I think an oil cooler would help the overall longevity of the motor.. If it's helping to cool the tranny that much, it's gonna cool the rest of the motor significantly as well.

I've seen oil cooler kits go dirt cheap on ebay.

just go to your local auto parts store and get a Hayden tranny or oil cooler just make sure it's no more than 12" long by 5" wide got mine at Advance for $27 then all you need is the fittings and lines for the cover and some liquid steel

and for less than that you could do the clutch cover mod and have a cooler running engine

This is the one I did for my bike.

This is a really good topic that I think we should cive into more. We need to get some readings for a few different people to establish a good medium. Some from guys with no cooler, some from guys with the clutch cover mod and some from gusy with the big bear mod would be ideal. If people could go out and rent (buy then return) a thermo gun, this would be a huge help! I have one and I will be sure to get some readings once mine is back together. I know that even with my oil cooler, the damn thing still runs really hot!
