Hahaha, yall never thought that I would ever say that, right? Let me get some things straight. I love my quad, love how it looks, love how it rides and feels underneath me, but, I finally got it all done and ready for the season last night (minus the heel guards need tabs welded up), rode it up and down the street last night a few times, parked it back in the garage and was pissed the rest of the night. WTF?

Yeash, I did all this engine work, and it just pissed me off. I felt like I was so slow and sluggish. I could deff. Feel the new clutch, feels awesome.

I haven’t ridden a stock warrior in a while but from what I can remember, they are a lot quicker. Given I most likely am faster in the long run but a stock will deff. get me off the line. Also, I have been riding the YZ and that thing cooks, perhaps I’m comparing it to that. I think I need to go up against a stocker to really see how I’m doin at the moment.

Dunno if it’s my carb (I know some of it is for sure). At WOT on the lever, I can still manually push the carb wheel another half inch, think the cable need adjusted. Or is it my cam? Or the combo of the two, I just feel like there is so much more there that I am missing. I think I need to tweak some stuff to really feel the engine advantages that I have done. It all just kinda pissed me off. Also, my hydraulic clutch seems to loose pressure? I clutch it and the next pull doesn’t clutch it all the way back in? Perhaps a throttle cable adjustment and clutch arm reset will fix some of my issue but I think I will still have some.

Anyways that’s my rant. I’m setting up a dyno and tune up appointment. I can’t seem to get this engine and carb combo figured out on my own.

yeah, i think i hate your setup too...

that's why you should send it all to me haha.

seriously though, that 426 probably has you ruined. might as well go ahead and stroke the warrior.

Hahahah. Ill have my war dog forever. I don't think is all the 426's fault. I ride 450's and 500's every once a while and I still love hopin on my quad after wards. I think its more the fact that I know its suposta runn and perform better. I think I should be more specific, the carb is pissin me off, makin the engine run like ****. Perhaps I should downgrade to the .390 cam, but I'd like to get the carb tuned and maybe enlarge the valves a bit before I back the cam down.

I was just mad that my quad made me mad! hahah. I'm tearin the carb off tonight, takin it apart and cleanin it out. Also gunna adjust the throttle cable and clutch case arm. Its all a process, but I just wanna hope on a ride.

Beastly. Can we set up a drag, so I have something to compare against?

Mines stock , come ride it !

Haha i bet its because of riding that dirtbike, and carb. But i bet it will be better after you get it on a dyno and tuned.

Anytime WarChick

I never felt that my set-up was perfect but for a while, like right after I did the engine mods, it was at its best. I think over time my carb got all gummed up and the stator was going out, I messed around to much with the edle and now its way outta wack. I set-up a date on monday for it to go to the shop. Dyno and tuner time!!!!! Cant wait to see some numbers and improvements.

My shop dude is already tellin me to look for a FCR Keihin carb. Which brings up another topic.....what is the electrical part on the YFZ450 carbs for? Where does it run/what does it control?

Keihin carbs are the best money can buy IMO... mukuni sucks monkey nuts and idk about quads but on SBC the edle sucks major ASS

I bet a lot of it is that you're riding that bike too. I thought my warrior performed pretty good, which it did. If I'd switch with my cousin and ride his LT250R for a while it just made my warrior feel like **** for about a week. The LT wasn't even much faster in a drag race, it was just how much lighter it was than the war dog and the way a 2 stroke's powerband fools you into thinking it's faster than it is. Same thing happened when I bought my 700. It completely ruined the 350 for me, even though mine was faster than a stock one it just feels so sluggish now that i'm used to the 700's obnoxious torque and fuel injection throttle response. Riding an overpowered dirt bike will surely do the same thing. Stay off the bike for a few weeks and just ride the war dog, I bet it starts feeling faster.

Having the carb only open part way is surely going to kill your performance too, I bet your Honda throttle setup is to blame for that. You should know better than to put Honda parts on a Yamaha!

I think the electrical connector on the yfz carb is a throttle position sensor. It obviously isn't going to affect the fuel ratio like it would on a FI machine, but I'm guessing it modifies the spark advance depending on how hard you're into the gas. That is purely speculation though but I know that the newer Z400 carbs have a TPS on them so I don't think I'm too far off base.

the wiring on the yfz and yz-f carbs is the throttle position sensor.

what you should do... stay off the bike and ride something slower than a warrior, like a mojave or something smaller. You'll really hate that and then get back on the warrior and be like "well i guess this is not so bad after all"

you kiddin me..... a Mojave is awesome! Id love it if my lil bro still had his. I Loved ridding that lil quad round.

Push the quad around for a couple hours and then ride it rite afterwards . Youll appreciate it then !!!
